ANNUAL MEETING AWARDS

AIRMAN/WOMAN OF THE YEAR*                           

This award is given to a person who has made notable contributions to aviation medicine, to aviation safety or education in aviation.  It is NOT mandatory that the nominee be a licensed physician but should be associated in allied sciences.

Nominations with written description of the person’s contributions and qualifications should be sent to the FPA President.  All nominations are considered by the Executive Committee and presented to the Board of Directors for decision.  Presentation of the award to the individual is usually at the ending event of the Annual Meeting.

DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD*

Recipient must be a voting member of the Flying Physicians Association and have contributed significantly toward the organization’s mission and goals.

Nominations with written description of the person’s contributions and qualifications may be sent to the Chair of the FPA Awards Committee for consideration.  The award is presented at the ending event of the Annual Meeting.

CO-PILOT OF THE YEAR*

The recipient must be the co-pilot of a voting member of the Flying Physicians Association and have contributed significantly within the organization in promoting the organization’s mission and goals.

Nominations with written description of the person’s contributions and qualifications may be sent to the Chair of the FPA Awards Committee for consideration.  The award is presented at the ending event of the Annual Meeting.

HONORARY MEMBER*

It is not mandatory that the recipient be a physician. The person nominated will have made significant contributions to aviation or aviation safety. 

ANNUAL MEETING TABARI AWARD

Established by Kuros Tabari, a former president of the Flying Physicians, this award recognizes the member or RFS delivering the best scientific/medical presentation at the Annual Meeting.  Speakers are scored on principles and guidelines of Continuing Medical Education at the time of their presentation.  Scores are tallied by the five members of the Continuing Education Committee at the meeting’s end or following the final member speaker participation.  The award is given to the winner at the ending event of the Annual Meeting.

JAMES V GAINER JR PROGRAM CHAIR RECOGNITION

Established by the family of Jim Gainer, a former president of the Flying Physicians, this award recognizes the contributions and work of the Annual Meeting Scientific/Aviation Program Chair in upholding the highest standards of education in medicine and aviation.  A name plate is added to the perpetual plaque and the gift is presented to the program chair at the conclusion of the program or at the ending event of the Annual Meeting.
