The Flying Physicians Association is governed by its Constitution and Bylaws, which set out FPA's purposes, membership categories, elections, Board of Directors, officers, committees and regional chapters.

The current bylaws were amended and approved by the membership at the Annual Business Meeting in June 2026. The changes simplified FPA's governance: Chapter Representatives now serve as each chapter's voice on the Board, the Nominating Committee now selects the annual award winners, and meeting notices and ballots can now be sent electronically.
